Spartan REgiment
The Centennial Spartan Regiment is the largest student organization at Centennial High school, and is a consistent Bands of America Regional Finalist and UIL State Marching Band Contest Finalist. All bands, including Marching Band, are team-taught with multiple directors assisting throughout each rehearsal. This allows all students to be positioned for success. Just like in athletic competition, it takes hard work and time for development to be ready to take on the role of "starter" or primary marcher. To prepare for this development, an audition process will place some students as secondary marchers to help those still developing their musical and marching skills. These students are incredibly valuable to the life of the Spartan Regiment and they continue to perform at every football game and competition. The opportunity to challenge for a primary marching spot always exists, and we believe that this is a healthy competition that drives each of us to strive to grow every day.
The Spartan Regiment has achieved numerous competitive feats across many marching platforms. Musicianship and artistry have propelled the band to be able to perform at BOA San Antonio, BOA Dallas, BOA Waco, the UIL State Marching Band Contest, as well as many regional marching invitationals. Success at these contests has been plentiful: consistent appearances in finals, multiple 1st-place finishes, and a 5th-place finish at the UIL State Marching Band Contest in 2019.
Private lessons are available for any student during their band class for a fee. In addition to Marching Band, there are multiple opportunities for participation in other individual and ensemble performances including Concert Bands, All-Region/All-State, Solo & Ensemble, musical pit orchestra, as well as Indoor Winds/Percussion/Guard.
